Big jobs always take longer than you expect. Shops never quote to cover every contingency. If they did, the price quoted would probably turn the customer off. Shops don't want to just turn the work away because they still look at the cashflow generated by doing the job. Inevitably, there will always be a portion of the work done that the shop is paying for, maybe not in parts but definitely in labor. I believe in paying more if the work is top-notch. When you're offered discounts, you get discounted work. To put it in perspective how slow you guys think your projects are going - I've prepaid for my body kit, electronics, turbos, and all related hardware in August 2002. I would say the shop doing the work has completed maybe 10% of the work that I originally had planned. Granted, I haven't addressed the labor costs yet, but I've put down over 20K CDN and my Z has not even been fired once since I've left it with this shop.
